Synopsis

Okonomiyaki is a coming of age set in the fast-paced city of Sao Paulo, where our protagonists, Martim (19) and Yumi (18) separately face the challenges of transitioning into adulthood. They both converge working in a coffee shop where the owner, Agnes, will become a helpless surrogate mother.

Gabe Klinger is an award-winning filmmaker, film studies teacher, programmer and writer. His acclaimed documentary Double Play: James Benning and Richard Linklater (2013) won Best Documentary at the Venice Film Festival, and was screened at... over 100 events and venues worldwide, including SXSW, Rotterdam, CPH:DOX, TIFF Bell Lightbox and the IFC Center. His second feature film, PORTO (2016), produced by Jim Jarmusch and starring Anton Yelchin, premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival and was selected for the 17th Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Film Festival, BFI London Film, SXSW, CHP:PIX, among others. In Chile he received the award for Best Director at SANFIC, and internationally his films have been distributed in more than forty countries around the world.
